Revolutionising Red Zone management, and de-risking interventions by eliminating suspended load hazards during Wireline Operations

InterLift™

InterLift™ is a revolutionary safety system that redefines red zone management in the offshore industry, setting a new standard for risk reduction across the full range of intervention operations.

Comprising a fail-safe hydraulic ram connected directly to a specialised BOP and wireline lubricator, InterLift™ eradicates the risks associated with working under suspended loads throughout interventions — particularly during the rig-up and rig-down of tool strings and the wireline lubricator.

In response to this Operator challenge, Wellvene has designed and manufactured an industry redefining solution that, for the first time during interventions, completely eliminates the need to work under suspended loads during wireline operations.

SAFETY

ADDRESSING AN INDUSTRY-WIDE SAFETY CHALLENGE

Preventing incidents caused by dropped objects has been a core objective in the oil and gas industry for decades. The risk remains the third most common cause of fatalities and serious injuries in the sector, placing both Operators & the service industry under increasing pressure to minimise it too as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).

The most frequent occurrences of fatalities and injuries involving dropped objects occur within the red zones, some of the most hazardous places to operate on a platform or drilling rig. Workers completing tasks in these areas must do so near moving machinery and often work under suspended loads, increasing the risk of dropped object incidents.

Suspended loads during wireline operations often result from the mast or drill floor tugger lifting the lubricator into place and securing it to the wireline valve (BOP), as well as from making and breaking tool strings and rigging down the lubricator once the operation is complete.

Revolutionising Safe Operations in the Offshore Industry

Eliminates working under suspended loads

Reduces time needed to rig-up/ rig-down

TIME SAVING

SAVING TIME AND COST

For traditional interventions on platforms, a wireline mast is typically positioned approximately 30 inches from the well center. Depending on the mast type, this is often classified as a heavy lift above the well bay area, which may require shutting in all surrounding wells for several hours to accommodate rig-up, including the shear seal and risers. In contrast, the InterLift™ can move between wells in a single lift, significantly reducing production downtime.

OPTIMISING SPACE

In conventional wireline setups, nearly the entire intervention deck is needed to accommodate the wireline equipment, mast, and outriggers that keep it secure. With the InterLift™, the working deck’s footprint is significantly reduced, creating more opportunities for intervention work on NUIs and ageing assets with known structural integrity issues that cannot support conventional wireline rig-ups.

REVOLUTIONISING WIRELINE SETUPS

For ageing assets with structural integrity issues, the InterLift™ is a game-changer. These assets often have limited capacity for deck loading, which restricts the type of standard wireline equipment that can be used. The InterLift™, however, can be transported in two transport baskets, reducing the number of lifts from vessel to platform and significantly decreasing its footprint on the intervention deck.

REDUCING POB

When a wireline mast is used, similar to crane operations, three crew members are typically required: a Mast Control Operator, Load Handler, and Banksman/Lift Supervisor. This number can rise to seven if the PCE fails its pressure test and needs to be lifted and redressed. In contrast, the InterLift™ simplifies operations by requiring only two personnel for safe and efficient use, while performing the same task.

EFFICIENCY

INCREDIBLE P&A BENEFITS

Revolutionary for subsea P&A operations, the Wellvene InterLift™ eliminates downtime caused by poor weather. Unlike traditional wireline setups that expose crews to risks during high winds and rig sway, the InterLift™ allows tool strings to be safely installed and recovered with significantly reduced risk.

Beyond the safety benefits, InterLift™ also delivers substantial cost and time savings by minimizing “weathered down” rig time, making it the ultimate solution for streamlined, derisked well abandonment operations.
