Unlocking Safer, Simpler, and Smarter Offshore Operations

CHALLENGE:

Wellvene was approached by a North Sea Operator which was facing significant challenges with Wireline interventions from the platform BOP deck. Traditional operations relied on a Wireline mast, but optimal placement was impossible due to restricted height limitations and structural weight constraints. As a result, an additional “patio deck” installation was required to reposition the mast, along with extended riser lengths to reach down to the wellhead, despite standard toolstrings not requiring such lengths. These restrictions can lead to extended operational rig-up timing and additional safety risks through excessive equipment handling on deck.

SOLUTION:

To address these challenges, Wellvene deployed the Dual BOP InterLift™ system directly onto the client’s platform BOP deck, eliminating the need for an additional patio deck, mast, and riser lifts. This standalone lifting solution allowed Wireline operations to be safely performed within the restricted deck height, dramatically reducing rig-up time, removing complicated crane lifts, and, for the first time, eliminating suspended loads. By optimising the rig-up and removing the mast requirement, the InterLift™ intervention system offered a streamlined, safer, and highly efficient approach to intervention operations

INTERLIFT CAPABILITIES:

  • Lubricator lift clamp with incorporated 500kg toolstring winch capacity
  • Incorporated in-situ connection for minimised connections
  • Helical piston for elevating and rotating through 90 degrees
  • Bespoke BOP complete with lower piston assembly
  • Incorporated pump in sub form minimised leak paths

VALUE CREATED:

Once deployed onto the platform, the InterLift™ intervention system performed 47 activations over the 4 x well campaign. The client's operational time saving during the campaign was estimated to be over 48hrs versus more traditional methods.
